Celebrating the Children’s Games
Designed and constructed by Lake Macquarie City Council staff, this cauldron was used for the International Children’s Games held in Lake Macquarie City December 6 – 11, 2014.
The International Children’s Games were first held in 1968 and have become the world's largest international multi-sport youth games. Lake Macquarie holds the honour of being the first City in the southern hemisphere ever to host this event. The Lake Macquarie Games comprised of eight sports and was attended by 1,592 athletes, coaches and officials, representing 78 cities from 30 different countries.
The games would not have been possible without the efforts of the organising committee, project team, 725 volunteers and 28 organisations that provided in-kind and financial sponsorship.
